1.Future Cities Co-Laboratory
The Future Cities Co-Laboratory is jointly established by Beijing Jiaotong University Urban Planning and Design Institute and the School of Architecture, Art, Planning and Design of the University of Cincinnati. The original intention of the laboratory was that, regardless of the city of China and the United States, the future of a beautiful city and high-quality urban life is the common dream of the research workers and government policy makers. The purpose of the laboratory is to strengthen the scientific research cooperation in urban and construction areas of China and the United States, and to promote the exchange, teaching and platform construction of the scholars. The co-laboratory will use information technology, data technology and other new technical means for urban research, and build a research platform for creating a better future urban environment. The co-laboratory will focus on the application of new technologies, new methods and new ideas in the field of urban and construction under the background of large data, based on the principle of "transnational alliance, cross-border integration, inter-school opening and collaborative innovation". And the co-laboratory will be built as an open, interdisciplinary and innovative research platform to promote cooperation between Chinese and American cities and construction related fields. The laboratory will focus on urban research information technology, and the two key directions of the construction of the parametric design, and provide a future-oriented, forward-looking communication platform for Chinese and American students.
 
2.Consortium for Urban and Regional Transportation
Beijing Jiaotong University - University of North Carolina Consortium for Urban and Regional Transportation aims to provide support for the cooperation and visiting scholars and other projects in the field of urban and regional transport planning. The Center will create opportunities for the collaboration of faculty and graduate students from Beijing Jiaotong University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as promoting collaborative research. The Center will also share research experiences with scholars from around the world and deepen the understanding of urban and regional transport in China and around the world. The establishment of Beijing Jiaotong University - the University of North Carolina Consortium for Urban and Regional Transportation will promote the cooperation of University of North Carolina with Beijing Jiaotong University in the fields of teaching, research and training, and promote the development of urban planning and architectural disciplines. Specifically, the center will carry out academic research and practice project cooperation on the development of urban agglomeration and metropolitan area, integration of land use and transportation planning, and invite well-known experts from relevant international areas to train on topics such as coordinated urban traffic development. The center aims to draw lessons from the international experience, and to draw lessons from the problems in the development of urban agglomeration and metropolitan area in China.
